Pastries, Pretzels and Paper
Nestled in the foothills of the Bavarian countryside, Mangfallblau is a café located inside the headquarters of German papermaker, Gmund. Building off a decades-long engagement with the papermill, we were invited to create an identity to support the opening and operation of the new eatery. The river that runs alongside the building, from which the café gets its name, inspired a free-flowing graphic language, as well as a wordmark with a customized ligature connecting the “f” and “a” to evoke the continuous movement of water and reinforce its connection to the local surroundings.
