Sleight of Hand
These high speed robotic hands are insane—not because they move at lightning speed, but how they autonomously sense and interact with objects at high speed. Learn more here.

Upside Downy Face
This was a good laugh. In photographer Brandon Voges' own words, "This is a series of portriats I made by hanging people upside down. Gross, wierd and super fun. And nobody puked. Promise." Brilliant.

Vans And The Places They Were
Joe Stevens' collection of van photos is a wonderful testament to van culture. The van itself conveys so much about it's identity – each one reading like a tattoo of sorts. Steven's photos up the ante by showing you the van in a deeper context – as curbside totem to subcultural lifestyle. (via ISO50)

Wrong
Fake realities seem to be the theme today. Photographer Asger Carlsen has attained some cult status with his deviant series "Wrong."  The candid quality of his images centered around freakish oddities are brilliant, baffling, or downright perverse.

The Great Unreal
Swiss photographers Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs create fabricated realities that elicit humor, crudeness, beauty, and mystery. Their series "The Great Unreal", made from their road trip through America, is especially interesting.

This Is Not A Photograph
Well, actually it is. But It's not a real tornado. It's an entirely propped miniature set made using materials such as steel wool, cotton, ground parsley, and moss. Check out Matthew Albanese's work here.

Elephants in Oakland?
A legendary rummage sale takes place each year in Oakland along the estuary. A hundred-member army of volunteers from the Oakland Museum's Women's Board spend the summer and fall gathering, organizing and tagging thousands of donated treasures for their annual White Elephant Sale. There are 17 departments in the football-field sized warehouse, filled with to overflowing with sporting goods, books and furniture, art and electrical items, dishes and shoes, jewelry, toys and vintage clothing.

Proceeds support the Museum's educational programs, exhibitions, acquisitions, and collections preservation. Over the past 50 years, the Women's Board has contributed more than $15 million in support of museum programs.

On sale days, lines form for a half mile as bargain-hunters vie to be first in the door; 2010 sale dates are March 6th and 7th. Visit their website for hours and directions.

Adventures in Plumbing
As a “Popular Science Best Of What’s New”, the PermaFLOW never-clog drain recently came to my attention and I believe I am going to outfit every existing sink in my house with one. This device is such a simple solution for a problem that has plagued homes for decades. The clear drain pipe has a clearing wiper to clear out blockage as well as capture any dropped items that may make it down your drain. No more excuses for not having your wedding ring on. Watch the product video here and then get your credit card out.

Lego Kitchen
With two young boys under eight living in my house, I have spent a fair amount of time stepping over piles of Legos in my bare feet. Once my sons have outgrown their fascination with colorful plastic blocks, if ever, I now have a perfect repurposing project.

Munchausen, a duo formed by Parisian designers Simon Pillard and Philippe Rosetti, took a bold approach with their own kitchen by venturing to IKEA for the basic kitchen island and then spending the next week covering it with more than 20,000 pieces by another Scandinavian brand, Lego. Originally seen on Young And Brilliant.
