McSweeney's SF Panorama
Who says print is dead? As newpapers and magazines are slowly (and sadly) folding, McSweeney's dedicates it's next quarterly issue to the art of the journalistic landscape: print newspapers. They do what the internet can't - use a broadsheet format to it's utmost potential. It's a visual and literary extravaganza. Count me in. Story on SFGate. More pics on Notcot.

Reed + Rader
Fashion photographers Pamela Reed + Matthew Rader create some outstanding images in the name of fashion. Most shoots end up as animated gifs in some form. Their latest, Augmented Reality Avatars is quite good.

Local Distance
Frederic Gmeiner, Torsten Posselt & Benjamin Maus introduce an advanced automated extraction technique that collage differing architectural photography into new abstract forms utilizing common vanishing points. Sounds complicated. It is. But the process and results are pretty stunning. Watch this video.

I am by no means a young ivy league college student, but something about Vampire Weekend works better than coffee for me. Watch their latest release.

Rotating Kitchen
Ah, food and art. Aside performance, there really isn't any other medium quite as ephemeral, and messy. Zeger Reyer's "Rotating Kitchen" was recently set in motion at Kunsthalle Düssuldorf for the "Eating the Universe, Food in Art" exhibition. The kitchen will continue to rotate until February 2010. Messy indeed.

Hard Format
As the end of physical music media becomes increasingly imminent, Hard Format embraces and celebrates what has defined the attitude of genres and generations through music design. But rather than serve as an old dusty history bin, Hard Format aims for the obscure and sublime — showcasing relevance in packaging, both old and new.

Benjamin Ducroz
Animator Benjamin Ducroz uses unconventional methods to create beautifully engaging animated shorts. His latest piece, PRESS+, utilizes inkjet printed frames, watercolor and water & ink. Be sure to peruse the press and documentation links related to each film. Quite amazing.

Water Logo '09
Hara Design Institute, NDC + Atelier OMOYA and Monert fabric collaborate once again to exhibit their amazing 'Water Logo' at last September's Tokyo Fiber '09 Senseware exhibition. The logotype is formed entirely from drops of water seeping out of an ultra water-repellent fabric and premiered in 2007's Senseware exhibition. They have since enhanced the implementation to allow for further viewing and interactivity.

Erwin Redl
Austrian-born artist Erwin Redl creates some really nice site-specific large-scale LED installations that interject between architecture and audience. Not sure what he's currently working on, but judging from this, the scale of his work seems to be growing larger.
