Lost Luggage
If you have ever found yourself the last person standing at the luggage carousel wondering where you bag is, you may want to check out isthisyourluggage.com. Buying and photographing unclaimed bags started as an art project that has since turned into an online retrieval service. If you don’t want your underwear showing up online, you should consider carry-on only.

Neverland Ranch Auction
A Flickr set of some items for sale at the recent Neverland Ranch auction open to the public April 14-21. Caution, some items may be hard to wipe from your mind's eye once viewed.

Take Care of Yourself
Sophie Calle's show "Take Care of Yourself" is about her unexpected breakup from her boyfriend via a single email. She immediately forwarded this email to 107 of her friends asking for each one's interpretation. The content of the show is a collection of these responses. My favorite is the video of her couple's counseling session with only herself, her therapist and the letter - literally. It's up through May 22nd at Paula Cooper and worth the visit.

Flight Control
If you own an iPhone and are looking for a cheap & easy way to pass the time while waiting for the train (or tardy friends) then look no further than Flight Control. It's .99 cents and is currently the number one paid app for the iPhone. But be warned- it's so addictive that people have been known to miss their subway stop while playing. If you get really good you can even measure yourself against people even more obsessed than you.

MWM Graphics
Found these great Tees via addic[tee]d. Those dove into the graphic world of Matt W. Moore. Whoa!

The Office Auto Tuner
After viewing this film, I realized every office should not be without one of these. The film's creator, Casey Donahue, a regular Vimeo contributor from Boston, has a bunch of other gems to watch. He has a real gift for comedic material and has seemed to tap into a endless stream of creativity. I can't wait for 'Robocus' to come out!

The Fantastic Work of Sarah Illenberger
Really, really great work by this multi-disciplinary artist from Berlin. As it states on her website, "Defining one category for all the work of Sarah Illenberger is no easy task." So true. I get lost in her work - in a good way.

Pe Lang + Zimoun
This is probably the best sound installation series I've seen in a long time. Swiss sound artists Pe Lang and Zimoun create ambitious installations of repetitive sonic mechanisms that collectively vibrate against architectural structures to create acoustic washes of white noise, dense cacophony, random polyphonic rhythms, insect-like soundscapes and more. The quicktime video of their "untitled sound objects" is totally amazing! A feast for both ears and eyes.

Switched At Birth
The episode "Switched At Birth" is from the "our favorites" section of the radio show "This American Life". Here's a brief excerpt from the description:

"in 1951, two baby girls were born in a hospital in small-town Wisconsin. The infants were accidentally switched, and went home with the wrong families. One of the mothers realized the mistake but chose to keep quiet. Until.. more than 40 years later.."

One of the craziest stories I've ever heard - definitely worth listening to.

Young San Francisco
Our own home-grown multi-talented Boy In Static duo (Alexander Chen and Kenji Ross) do it all – the music, the videos – all great labors of love. Chen, an interactive and sound artist as well, created videos for two of their tracks.

Toy Baby Grand, just completed, is a great experiment gone right done using low tech TextEdit and free animated GIF clip art.

My favorite, Young San Francisco, stars a niece and nephew edited to perfection.

The Best Little Secrets Are Kept
This goes way back to 2005, but since we're on the topic of bands having a hand in the creating the visuals around their "brand", Louis XIV has masterful control. They've not strayed an inch from their snarky mod persona since inception. In fact, their obsession with design and their image bubbled up in this great little backstory page on how they created the art for their CD The Best Little Secrets Are Kept.

When Life Gives You Lemons, DANCE!
Ely Kim introduces himself like this.

“Hello, I am a graduate student at Yale studying graphic design. I LOVE to dance and I enjoy clouds, mangoes, smiling, and puppies.”

Watch him dance his way through an amazing playlist of 100 songs.

You can see passions also feed his work at Yale.

Thanks Ely. We cannot get enough!

Tree Show Book
There's a wonderful Special Edition Exhibition book of Mark Ryden's Tree Show at the Michael Kohn Gallery in LA. Each signed and numbered, the hard-bound book features over 130 of Mark's paintings, drawings, studies and inspirations. It's quite a piece. Only available online on April 16 on the Porterhouse website.

Sticky Business
From March 27 to July 5, approximately three miles of black masking tape will line the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Gallery in New York. Artist Sun K. Kwak estimates that it will take 280 Hours to wrap walls and pillars inside the space. Drawing with masking tape has become her signature form of expression which for her is both meditative and performative.

Métisse Desert Racer
Throwback motorbikes are all the rage these days. And now Steve McQueen is posthumously endorsing the new Métisse Desert Racer. An amazing looking machine that I'd sure love to ride.

"It is authentically hand built by Métisse Motorcycles in England, is fully endorsed by Steve McQueen’s estate, and features his signature on each one of these exact replicas.

A limited number of 300 will be built, complete with official certificate of authenticity from the company that made it possible all those years ago. These bikes are identical to the one that Steve McQueen rode and are the only way to experience a bike developed by a great rider as well as a movie legend. These bikes come from the same stable as the original!"

80s Resurgence or Rebellion
Are you all prepared and equipped for the reanimation of the 80s fashion palette? Like Frankenstein brought to life from the detritus of hooligans and malcontents, this time around these palettes don't play nice, and there's nothing we can do about it. I have to admit though, I think it rocks!

The North Face continues collaborating with Taylor Design on a new line of shell jackets for Spring/Summer 09. You can find them at Honeyee.

SinkPositive
In light of the current water shortage, why not ask our water to perform double duty. No pun intended. The SinkPositive "multipurpose accessory sink" uses water drained through the sink to flush the bowl. Why didn't I think of that?

Shared Propulsion Car
No engine. No gas. Human powered. Totally recycled. Just about as green as you can get, but does it work? Check out this video of artist Michel de Brion's 1986 Buick in action. Brion's trans-disciplinary works range from sculpture to mechanics to public actions. His common theme of altering utopian objects and ideas remind me of the early work of American sculptor Tom Friedman. Looking forward to what both artists do next.

1950s - 1970s Advertising
Great Flickr set by Pink Ponk filled with inspiring work from around the world during the golden age of advertising. The cutting edge work for Olivetti typewriters is fantastic. The machines were probably highly regarded with a cool and hip factor for the time with high aesthetic value for the office set. "Nice rig."

Art Meets App
Eliss is a multitouch game developed for the iPhone and iPod. It's the perfect blend of art and interaction. Steph Thirion gets it – setting a high standard for aesthetic beauty and engaging game play.
