Claremont HD
Skip the first two minutes of this video. It's worth it. They are insane and according to calculations done by people posting in the thread, appear to be reaching speeds of 30 MPH, on a skateboard, and are casually handing the video camera back and forth. At one point, they even pass a car. Nuts.

Shadow Lighting
Created by German designer Peter Buning, Sha-Do lamps illuminate environments through individual shadow pantomimes. For Buning, the design of the shadows are just as important as the design of the lamp.

Among the various patterns available in his Sha-Do collection, Buning has also developed cellular shadow casting Virus lamps, the intricately detailed three-pointed Tripes lamps, and the conchiferous cascading Ammon lamps.

Curved Folding
Curved origami, computational origami, origami sekkei, or simply put, curved folding. It's no simple feat. Mathematicians and scientists like the late Dr. David Huffman have begun mapping the laws underlying curved folding—bringing an ordinary piece of paper to new life.

You can read a brief history of curved origami sculpture here, or check out the latest curves from up and coming enthusiasts here and here.

ABC 3D
Paris-based graphic designer Marion Bataille's highly anticipated "ABC3D" is a spectacular pop-up book with clever alphabetical forms inside and a dazzling lenticular cover.

I'm willing to bet this will elicit more drool from a parent graphic designer than the "ooo and aah" of their recipient child. The first 3 seconds of the demonstration video already had me going. Where do I sign up?

Surfwise
If there's one documentary not to miss this year, besides Man on Wire, it's Surfwise. It almost plays itself out as fiction. All you need to know about it is this.. "...the inspiring and tumultuous story of 85-year old surfer, health advocate and sex guru, Dr. Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, his wife Juliette, and their nine children who were all home-schooled and raised in a small camper on the beach". A truly unbelievable story.

Point Break Live
Been hearing a lot of good things about Point Break Live. Friends who have seen it say they haven't laughed so hard in years.

Point Break LIVE! is the "absurdist stage adaptation on the 1992 Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze extreme-sports blockbuster that tells the story of former College football star, Johnny Utah, in pursuit of the surfing, bank robbing, skydiving, bare-hand-fighting adrenaline-junkie-cum-Zen-master Bodhi Sattva."
