Keepon Dancing
Keepon, the dancing robot developed by Hideki Kozima and programmed by Marek Michalowski, has some pretty nice moves. The story goes that Kozima and Michalowski posted a demo of Keepon dancing to a Spoon song earlier this year. Spoon saw it and invited Keepon to star in their music video for "Don't You Evah".

Hopefully Keepon will hit store shelves before Christmas!

P-I-E in the sky
This is perfect for all you type geeks with your heads in the clouds. A friend forwarded me a link to Dezeen who discovered this example of fine German typography.

TYPE THE SKY is an alphabet formed by the negative space between buildings as you look up towards the sky. The "typeface" was designed by Lisa Rienermann while studying at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

City Shrinker
Australian native Ben Thomas is creating imaginative photos using a unique shooting technique. His City Shrinker site has examples of his amazing ability to make the immense look miniscule.

My aim is to give that feeling of newness with each shot I take. My method is to take what was once large and shrink it down to model size. To take the familiar and get you thinking even if for a second "wait a minute, is that...".

Wee World
Slinkachu is a London-based artist. Check out his Little People Project. Tiny, customized figurines are placed in popular locations throughout London. They are photographed and left to "fend for themselves". The project is kind of charming for Guerilla art. Imagine finding one of these thoughtfully crafted mini scenes on your lunch hour. Be careful where you step.

An Illustrated Life
I just received my pre-ordered copy of

Charley Harper - An Illustrated Life. I first read about this Ohio based illustrator a while back and have watched as his name has resurfaced in a big way in the last few years.

The huge collection of his work is beautifully presented in this oversized release from the newer AMMO Books.

Charley died June 10, 2007 at the age of 84, shortly after this book was completed.

Rollercoaster + Supermarket = Fun!
A brilliant mind in Shenyang, China has built a slow-moving rollercoaster that rides through every aisle of a grocery store - so you can grab your groceries as you go.

Less stress and more entertaining!

The only downfall is that if you miss that special something you have to ride through again.

Don't forget the six pack!

Crutch Dancing
Post hip hop turntablist genius RJD2's latest music video features the uniquely artistic dance stylings of Bill Shannon. Director Joey Garfield captured Shannon in one continuous take around a NYC block with RJD2 in multiple cameos. The great thing about the video is not only watching Shannon move but the fact that it was shot in the middle of the day in NYC through crowds of people.

Spinner shares some good production shots and a clip of the making of the video.

You can find two different takes on Ghost Robot. Take 1 and Take 2. Watch them both to see how Shannon manages through two different crowds.

Cinepainting
This documentary about OIO aired on a recent Air Canada flight to Toronto. I was drawn to it as it expressed in a very liquid sensibility, akin the Adobe CS3 graphic language.

The effort involved in this production is significant and the final result led me back to an animation considered avant garde in its day, Disney's Fantasia. Pick any of the scenes with richly patterned and colorized choreography orchestrated to a symphonic score and you'll recognize a kindred experience.

Fische und Schiffe
This years Adobe Design Achievement Award winner in the Animation category, Axel Broetje, wrote and animated this amazing short film using Illustrator, After Effects and Maya

From Adobe: "Fische und Schiffe" is an animated silhouette film for children. I wrote the story myself. It is about a ship accident in which four main characters interact in different roles. The characters are a small boy, a cook, a fisherman and a greedy predator fish. The film is without speech but the story is accompanied by piano music.

Handy Tool
There is the French company, Atypyk, that makes humorous, conceptual products that play on everyday objects. They would be great gifts for family and friends.

This is 'Screwed Lollipop' that has cherry flavor. Visit the website, you will be smiling at every single product that they designed.

Living Room Forest
Here's a way to have an urban forest in your house even if you live in a studio apartment.

Get a couple of these Park Planters from Science & Sons for your little house plants. Suddenly your living room is a city.

Nicely Drawn
So maybe it is my love for the urban landscape. Maybe it is my desire for things created by the human hand. Either way Matt Mills is fulfilling both needs with his illustrated cityscapes seen here at Nicely Drawn.

Barcelona is my favorite.

Walk This Way
In an attempt to make walking more appealing, Walk Score has created a place to locate walkable services in your neighborhood. If you are looking to rid yourself of your SUV, find a neighborhood with a high walkability score and enjoy the extra fresh air.

You can even look up some famous addresses. George W. Bush’s Texas ranch gets a zero. Pictured above is HBO’s Six Feet Under house in LA, which gets a 63.
